you can call me sherlock

23 July, 2008

I was recently doing a little detective work over at Drake’s website… I logged into their student website and saw the listings of my classes, but they didn’t have any times or professor information. For example, Civil Procedure I was listed as LAW-114-1. I dug around in the entire university’s schedule and figured out that the little 1 behind LAW-114 means that I’m in section 301. And they thought I wouldn’t find out until orientation! Ha!

The moral of this story is that this is good news, kids. This is VERY good news.

On Mondays, I only have class from 10 to 11:50. Tuesdays are a bit longer, from 9 to 1:50. Wednesdays and Thursdays are the long hauls from 8 to 1:50, and Friday I start at 8 but am done at either noon or one depending on which legal writing section I’m in. No matter what, I am finished with classes by 2 each day!

Now, this is exciting for a number of reasons. One, I should have plenty of time to get most studying done during the week, so on the weekends when I’m home I will be able to focus on being at home. Two, I will have time to be involved in activities, and maybe even get some volunteer time in. Three, I have a connection who informed me of a part-time administrative assistant job at an amazing firm in the city. I don’t know the scoop on hours or pay or anything, but I’m seriously considering expressing interest in the position. This could be a foot in the door of one of the best firms that happens to pay summer associates VERY well. Four, I will have no excuse to not make it to the gym anymore. I will have time – I will MAKE time.

27 days until orientation! Summer has gone by so quickly!

Way to go! I wish I could somehow find out what section I’m in. There is only one section that doesn’t have 8 AM classes!! Ah, why do they not tell us until orientation?!? Oh, cruel law school.

    It’s a test of patience. Clearly, I failed. 🙂

i’m pretty jealous. i don’t know what section i’m in yet, but i know all of the schedules – and none of them end as early as yours does. instead, all of them have crazy 2 hour breaks in between. fabulous.

I got amazingly lucky, shake me. If it makes you feel better, there are some days that I will have 4 classes with only one 1-hour break. That might be kind of rough.

Haha you’re lucky! I don’t think I’ll know my schedule until the 27th.

I’m excited to see how your year goes. I seriously considered Drake.

You know….I’m kinda excited. Why, you ask? Well, because, little do you know, but I’m going to make you come have lunch with me at work….er…well, we can go do lunch. You will be just a hop and a skip away from work when you are at school…..whoo hooo!!

Jansen: Well, that’s soon! And I’ll definitely keep you posted. 🙂

Em: YAY! You won’t have to twist my arm or anything. I’d love to come have lunch with you!
