california or bust

20 June, 2008

In an effort to have some fun before school and temporarily cure my raging wanderlust, I am going to Los Angeles in July with my cousin. She actually suggested it, and I thought that traveling with her would be a lot of fun – she’s five years younger than me but when we get together we have a good time. She’s got a great sense of humor and shares my love of traveling.

We’re thinking of going to a Galaxy game while we’re there, and then we want to do a few of the normal, touristy things like tour a studio and see the Getty. I’ve never been to California, so this will be my first experience. We’ll be there for basically three days. Any recommendations?

–Check into your Galaxy tickets now before it’s too late. And say hello to my boyfriend, David Beckham, for me.
–Hollywood is not glamorous. It’s dirty and a little scary. But you still have to go there! The stars on the walk of fame and the Chinese Theater are pretty cool.
–Be prepared to see a lot of interesting people. *ahem*
    –Hit at least one beach!
    –Be safe and have fun!
–Bring me back a very cool souvenir.

We’ve decided to skip the Galaxy game in order to have more time. Though I’d love to see David Beckham!!

Thanks for the tips – I think we’re going to Venice Beach for sure. I can’t wait! 🙂

Oooooh. You should go to a live taping of a show. Get free tickets HERE: http://ocatv.com/
This site is really legit. I’ve gone to an American Idol taping, MadTV, Last Laugh 2006, and 2007 and Dancing With the Stars, and Last Comic Standing.

You just have to dress however they ask you to (the better you look, the better seats you get.) But really, there are no bad seats, because they are usually small studios. Show up an hour early, just to be safe. (while the tickets are FREE they aren’t guaranteed. First come, first serve) But it’s sooooo worth it just to say you’ve “been there, done that” you know?

Ok, what I said was, you should go see a taping of a live show. get your tickets here:

they are FREE. and LEGIT. I’ve gone to see Dancing With the Stars, American Idol, MadTV, Last Comic Standing, and a couple of VH1 shows too.

the only thing that bites is that the more popular shows you have to be put on a waiting list. but click away until you find one that’s taping on the days you’ll be in town and pick an early or LATE taping so you don’t waste your whole day, you know?

Norma: Sorry about that – my blog thought you were a spammer, I guess. I fixed it, though! Thank you so much for the tips! There aren’t any shows taping on the dates we have free, though. Poo.

Nicki: I figure at least it won’t be ridiculously humid, right?

meh…it’s hard to say. Most places have misters on their buildings for when you’re walking down the sidewalk. THAT is what Iowa needs.

    Interesting. And yes, it does!
